Spanish outlet AS reported last week (13 July) that Leeds are interested in signing the attacking midfielder and Victor Orta has been in contact with his father.
It is claimed that the Whites’ offer is the only concrete option Mata currently has on the table but he is also attracting interest from Galatasaray and Besiktas.
Asked for his verdict on a Mata potentially move to Elland Road, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “They’ve got a lot of young players Leeds, a lot of inexperienced players in the Premier League,”
“So I think he would be perfect. He might no play every game but to have him in there, to help the younger players and the less experienced players to play in the Premier League.
“I think it would be a great signing for Leeds. These rivalries are dying at the moment.”
Mata has played 277 times in the Premier League across his time with Man United and Chelsea, scoring 50 times and providing a further 64 assists.
The former Spain international has won the Champions League, Europa League, the FA Cup and Europa League in his illustrious career.
