Qatar 2022: Morocco coach, Regragui reacts after 2-0 defeat to France

Morocco head coach, Walid Regragui, has expressed his pride despite his team’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup.

The Atlas Lions lost 2-0 to defending champions France in Wednesday’s semi-final clash.

Regragui masterminded wins in the knockout stages over Spain and Portugal, but found Les Bleus hard to topple.

However, Morocco became the first African or Arab country to reach a World Cup semi-final and could still finish with the bronze medal.

“The most important thing is to have shown a good face, to have shown that football in Morocco exists and that we have great supporters.

“We gave it our best. … [The loss] doesn’t take away everything we gave before,” Regragui told TF1.
