You Betrayed Southern Presidency – Omo-Agege To Okowa

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has come under fire for allegedly betraying the southern presidency’s chances.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State, made a claim on Thursday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

He claimed that even though Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate, was one of the leaders who advocated for a southern presidency, he betrayed his people by accepting the position.

According to him, Okowa was one of the region’s leaders who led the charge and met in Asaba and Lagos state to demand the presidency of the southern region.

Omo-Agege argued that having President Buhari’s successor from the south was only fair and equitable.

He stated that;

Okowa betrayed that course by selling away our right, and instead going for Vice President when the country is offering us the presidency.

So our people are not taking this treachery kindly and are determined that they will punish him.

The APC chieftain also accused the governor of failing to implement the N30,000 minimum wage despite massive federal government funding.

He claimed that Okowa’s administration has spent close to N4.2 trillion in the state since taking office in 2015, but there is nothing to show for it.

Explaining where the monies came from, he said “This came by way of federal allocation, 13 %derivation, and also about N400billion the State has borrowed.’’

Despite receiving all of the huge funds, he bemoaned the state’s state and condition, adding that Okowa’s administration failed to pay gratuities and pensions.

Omo-Agege claimed that, despite Okowa’s status as a medical doctor, Delta’s healthcare system was deficient.

The lawmaker also denied that Delta is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stronghold.

“That is a very serious misconception. Delta is very ripe for the taking,” he added.
